october astrology-yoga overview

October 2025 Overview — “Say it with feeling. Feel it with care.”

Whereas Virgo season was all about precision and mental judgment (positive and otherwise), Libra season is all about assessing our networks and connections.

Virgo tells us to weigh and evaluate, cutting out what is unnecessary and extraneous.  Virgo, ruled by Mercury, is about the give and take of information.  Knowledge is power.  Virgo sees what is logical and expects us to be governed by that.

Libra, ruled by sensual Venus, is about beauty and connection.  Libra season wants to teach us about the give and take of our relationships.  If we don’t give, we won’t be able to take later.  Libra is better at seeing subtext, the backdrop of our interactions.

Therefore, October’s medicine is to balance communication and emotion. Words are waves this month—carriers of truth, charge, and change. Early October asks for sensitivity and patience: name what’s real without weaponizing it. Mid-month, relationship matters step into the spotlight as your longing for self-realization grows louder. The Libra New Moon (Tue, Oct 21) invites devotion to beauty, balance, and right relationship—not as décor, but as a daily spiritual practice. The month is building toward a very important crescendo: a grand water trine (Oct 24–28) which will set deep currents in motion. Once the tide turns, events can pick up unstoppable momentum. Translation: surf, don’t fight the sea.  As they say in my favorite Tame Impala song: “Let it Happen”….

“All this running around

Tryin’ to cover my shadow

A notion growing inside

All the others seem shallow

All this running around

Bearing down on my shoulders

I can hear an alarm…must be morning…”

The current quality of time

Outer planets sit on thresholds—Pluto turns direct mid-month, Neptune slips back into Pisces (Oct 22), while Saturn and Uranus remain retrograde. We re-meet old themes to review, integrate, and mature them. With water signs emphasized, feelings become the medium of every conversation. Any planet changing signs this month does so “under the eyes” of the outers—ingresses are extra charged, liminal, meaningful.

The month in movements (with soul notes)

Wed, Oct 1 — Mercury □ Jupiter (22° Libra/Cancer).

Big ideas are bringing even bigger emotion. Media, commerce, and convo volume up and the divisions between different groups may get magnified if we don’t choose our communication approach carefully. Our intentions are positive and harmonious, but the loving influence of Cancer in magnifying Jupiter may cause us to over-promise in a moment of wild generosity. So give yourself this spiritual cue: Qualify your “yes” by stepping back, and considering what it really means for you and your life. Ask yourself, “If I promise this, what promise to myself must change?”  The point is – don’t over-extend yourself just to seem kinder, easier or more acquiescent.

Fri, Oct 3 — Mercury ☍ Chiron (Libra/Aries).

A loose T-square with Jupiter sensitizes messages; raw spots react fast. Healing mantra: I can be honest and kind at the same time.  Chiron is the “Wounded Healer”, but in Aries, he medicine he serves can feel like pouring bitter lemon onto our wounds.  We are called to heal, but also to be kind and – to borrow a phrase – be intentional as we make our way forward in the world.

Mon, Oct 6 — Mercury → Scorpio.

Mind turns x-ray; curiosity becomes courage. Listen for what the body knows. Scorpio is a water sign – intuitive and deep.  However, there’s that Shadow Side of Scorpio, which is all about seeing the dark side of people’s behavior, and imagining all kinds of dark undercurrents that may (or may not) be there.  Hell let’s face it, sometime they will be there!

But while Mercury is in Scorpio, let’s not yield to a tendency to see the negative in all that others say or do.  While we know that human nature is inherently selfish, let’s also remember that there is *some* good in others, as well. Mercury in Scorpio can be too quick to throw out the metaphorical baby with the bathwater.

**Tue, Oct 7 — Mercury □ Pluto (Scorpio/Aquarius) + Mercury at the apex of a Yod (with Neptune/Pisces + Uranus/Gemini) + Full Moon in Aries (14°08′).

Words can be catalysts. Guard against impatience, cynicism, and performative activism. Aries Full Moon: choose self-authenticity without abandoning connection. Ritual: belly breathing, cut cords to appeasement, bless the lesson.

Sat, Oct 11 — Venus ☍ Saturn (Virgo/Pisces).

An opposition between Venus and Saturn brings a reality check around love/money. Devotion becomes grown-up.  while Venus is the sign of income, beauty, and love, while going through Virgo, she can be rather stingy.  Meanwhile, while in Pisces, Saturn also becomes uncharacteristic to its usual style.  That is to say – the taskmaster Saturn becomes softer, more forgiving.  So it’s down to your own chart as to whether you have been too parsimonious (that Virgo influence) or if you have allowed yourself to be led astray by dissolving barriers (Pisces is the master of illusion and nuance).

Mon, Oct 13 — Venus → Libra; Last Quarter Moon (Cancer 20°40′).

When Venus finally floats into Libra, we may find our desire for sensuality and beauty reaching an alltime high.  We may even cover up all kinds of unpleasantness in our own minds, feeling that there’s no need to bring up sour grapes when we could all just be getting along.  Emotional editing + relational elegance is our goal here. Rebalance labor (emotional + practical). Harmony through clarity.

However – remember the piper must be paid sometime.  The last quarter moon in Cancer (the moon’s ruler) implies that the truth – no matter how ugly – will need to be acknowledged, and resolved, at some point.

**Tue, Oct 14 — Venus ☍ Neptune (Libra/Aries) + Venus △ Uranus (0°) + Venus △ Pluto (1°) → a Kite pattern; Pluto stations direct (Aquarius 1°22′).

The keyword is longing. What wants to be realized? Vision meets innovation and power. Discuss dreams inside real partnerships; some will renew, some will evolve. Watch the Venus–Neptune fog: don’t confuse fantasy for devotion.

Fri, Oct 17 — Sun □ Jupiter (24°); Sat, Oct 18 — Sun ☍ Chiron.

The Jupiter–Chiron story ripens (their exact square perfects Oct 24, but this is a primer). Around this date, do your best to create with heart; what you radiate returns multiplied. Lead with sincerity.  Chiron, as I’ve mentioned, is all about healing.  We can’t afford to keep glossing over past hurts; some will have to be confronted head-on if we want to truly move forward and grow into the best version of ourselves.

Tue, Oct 21 — New Moon in Libra (28°21′) within orb of the Jupiter–Chiron T-square.

Beauty and balance as spiritual activism. Maintain your detachment when navigating every issue; it’s up to you to be the voice of reason.  Libra energy is all about understanding relationship dynamics and finding the “best possible outcome” – the fair, just outcome – for everyone in the room.  And if we can do that while also looking gorgeous, all the better!  Bring art to the altar of daily life—concerts, museums, poetry, the good book you’ve been saving. Peace with boundaries beats peace at any price.

Wed, Oct 22 — Neptune → Pisces (retrograde).

Neptune, which has been Retrograde since the 4th of July (2025!) has now retrograded from Aries back into its home sign of Pisces.  Expect to be more in tune with your spirituality and creativity (albeit in a more internalized way, as the planet is still traveling retrograde).  You may feel as if you are crossing the “cosmic gap” again. If energy dips, rest in silence. Return to a healing practice you paused.

Thu, Oct 23 — Sun → Scorpio; the transition forms a Yod (Uranus/Neptune). Fri, Oct 24 — Sun □ Pluto; Jupiter □ Chiron perfects.

Ah, the Dark Warrior has finally arrived.  As a perfect complement to Neptune in spiritual Pisces, the Sun has crossed over into deep, intuitive Scorpio.

Freud once said “When you name your disease, you take away its power.”  If we can latch on to that kind of radical authenticity, we can live in the realm of the Dark Lord Scorpio.  But it’s n ot for the faint of heart, is it?  We need to have some kind of deep confidence and security of Self to be that courageous.  Overall: our Shadows named become our Power reclaimed.

Oct 24–28 — Grand Water Trine: Mercury/Mars/Lilith (Scorpio) △ Saturn/Neptune (Pisces) △ Jupiter (Cancer).

Dense, sweeping currents: when feelings move, they move. Suppressed emotion may surface with force—personally and collectively. Because Jupiter’s involved, the arc trends positive, but chaos → clarity is a real sequence. With Saturn/Neptune in Pisces, boundaries blur; with Mars–Lilith–Mercury in Scorpio, small slights can escalate. Skill: let the wave carry you until it’s safe to steer.

Wed, Oct 29 — Mercury △ Neptune; Mercury → Sagittarius; Mercury ☍ Uranus; Mars △ Saturn.

Revelation + responsibility. Receive the download; ground the plan. Quick changes possible—respond, don’t react.

Timing mantra for the month:

  • Early month: Gentle truth.

  • Mid-month: Longing named, values negotiated.

  • Late month: Feel fully, move wisely.
