enter the goddess: libra season begins
Astro-Weekly | Sept 21–27, 2025
“Summer is gone,
But our love will remain.
Like old broken bicycles
Left out in the rain.”
- Broken Bicycles, Tom Waits (from the film “One from the Heart”)
In the movie “One from the Heart” by Francis Ford Coppola, Frannie (played by the inimitable Teri Garr) reluctantly realizes that her lackluster relationship with Hank (played by Frederic Forrest) is on the road to nowhere. Although she loves him and hates to abandon the love they have built over the years, she is forced to recognize that he is neither attuned to her needs…nor is he willing to learn. Despite his too-late pleading – she has to let him go.
Frannie needs to make an unpleasant call.
Libra season launches with the autumnal equinox on Mon, Sept 22 @ 2:19 PM EDT, and Mars cannonballs into Scorpio the same day. Translation: Charm first, chaos …later? Use Libra’s scales to rebalance agreements and expectations; then let Mars-in-Scorpio supply the grit to follow through.
Early week, the Sun in Libra opposes Neptune (Tue) — the “fog machine” moment — we just got out of precise Virgo season and a New Moon in Virgo. But Neptune energy returns and clouds our judgment yet again.
On the same day, the Libra Sun also trines Uranus (Tue) — the “Eureka, let’s tweak this” spark. By Wed, the Sun harmonizes with Pluto, sharpening influence and intent, while Mars squares Pluto (spicy!) — power dynamics surface, jealousy/insecurity ping, and ultimatums are… tempting. Choose clarity over control. “Kind and clear” wins more doors than force.
Supporting cast is made up of some of our favorite relational planets, hovering amidst the late summer- early autumn signs:
To wit, Mercury in Libra (Sept 18–Oct 6) refines negotiation and tone; Venus in Virgo (Sept 19–Oct 13) asks for practical love (acts of service, health, clean systems). Mars in Scorpio (Sept 22–Nov 4): focused, strategic, passionate — and prone to fixation if you don’t schedule release valves. Luna glides into Libra early week and links with Mercury: talk things out, but try to keep discussions balanced. Mars in Scorpio can be vindictive, so try not to let any disagreements escalate to a toxic level.
