new moon in libra: beauty can heal the world
the beautiful conclusion of gentle libra season … with a new moon in libra.
this week’s mantra: be peace – be grace – be harmony – be love
The big news of the week is the New Moon in Libra on Tuesday October 21st .🌑♎️✨💜
This means that we have peak amounts of Libra energy in the skies just now – the Sun, the Moon which is New, and of course, Venus, which rules Libra.
As you may know, a sign’s energy is most powerful at the beginning and end of its cycle…and as we are almost at the last moments of Libra season (the Sun moves out on October 22nd), our desire for harmony, beauty, and strong social networks are at their very peak.
There’s room for lots of new beginnings and depending upon where Libra lives in your chart, the emphasis will be on relationships in that domain. This week blends grace with grit.
It makes perfect sense that this past Sunday, we had a brazen theft of crown jewels at the Louvre, in France – we are in search of tokens of beauty and prestige. Perhaps some have gone too far in their quest to possess a bit of Venusian magic, eh?
Beauty is truth, and truth is beauty.
As Libra season speeds to an end, we take the lesson that sometimes, how things seem does matter – our audiences matter – and we can benefit from attending to them with care.
Monday (Oct 20) opens with Mercury conjunct Mars in Scorpio: conversations you’ve avoided (especially about love, money, or power dynamics) won’t stay undercover any longer. On Tuesday (Oct 21), a vivid New Moon in Libra resets the relational field—clean slate energy for clearer agreements, fairer boundaries, and heartfelt beginnings. Wednesday (Oct 22) Neptune slips back into Pisces, re-enchanting intuition and dreams. Then, on Thursday (Oct 23) the Sun enters Scorpio, deepening the tone: honesty, intimacy, transformation.
Mercury, the planet of mind, and Mars, the planet of war and aggression, are both in Scorpio. On Monday, October 20th, the two planets will meet at the exact same degree, 19°11’, at 2.30am ET. This could be the moment to speak your mind around an “elephant in the room” type of issue…or to quietly, but firmly, assert your views on a contentious matter. But beware of being too sharp or cruel with others. While Scorpio perceives deeply, sometimes the sting of the Scorpion can lead to burnt bridges that you will regret. Karma’s a bitch!
our sacred quality of time: This week forces us to break out of the Nice Girl (or Boy) Routine, and understand the deeper subtext. We are called upon to name what’s true (Scorpio) without losing our grace and poise (Libra).
Sign-By-Sign Playbook
(Read your Sun, Rising, and Moon. Poses balance heart/throat + water element. Keep breath smooth; exits are as mindful as entries.)
Please note: the asana recommendations are not meant to be standalone poses – they are merely a suggestion for you to place extra attention on these asanas, and weave them into your broader daily (or weekly) practice.
Aries
Remember that the Sun, Moon, and Venus are all in Libra, your opposite sign. As such, the Universe is asking you to observe, and receive – don’t push soo hard (as is your wont). Your best move, especially early in the week, is to let others lead.
Theme: Power dynamics → principled partnership. Your lesson this week is to seek balance, not belligerence.
Try: Speak to the money/merger elephant, then design a fair plan.
Pose: Crescent Lunge, hands to heart (Anjaneyāsana) — lengthen through back heel; whisper your intention into your palms. Let your heart lead, not your rage.
Taurus
As a fellow Venus-ruled sign, you, like Libra, will be having an empowered week! Just don’t let all the attention make you more intransigent.
Theme: All-or-nothing → healing realism
Try: One honest talk beats ten assumptions. If needed, bring a therapist/neutral party into things.
Pose: Supported Bridge (Setu Bandha Sarvāṅgāsana) — place a block under the sacrum; soften jaw to ease stored “shoulds.”
Gemini
With three planets in fellow Air sign, Libra, your 5th House of Creativity and Romance, you may feel even more playful and frisky than ever. Put that frolicking energy into all the things that you “must” do.
Theme: Flirt → focus
Try: Choose one joyful ritual (date night, creative play) and protect it.
Pose: Twisting Chair (Parivrtta Utkatāsana) — wring out the spiral of overthinking; keep knees level so truth feels steady.
Cancer
All this Libra energy may have you pleased, but not satisfied. As Mercury and Mars in sharp Scorpio exposes some wounds, you’ll be ready to guide others (and yourself) through the flying daggers. Lean into your extra-sensory perception to soothe and sail into sexy Scorpio season. By week’s end, you’ll be in your element (as the Sun moves into Scorpio on October 22nd.)
Theme: Edges in speech → edges with care
Try: Draft the text, breathe, then edit for tenderness before sending.
Pose: Sphinx (Salamba Bhujangāsana) — broad collarbones, gentle throat opening for brave + soft words. Opening up the heart space will help you to transcend any negative emotions that are flying around.
Leo
Diplomatic Libra energy at its peak this week will help soften your path through any work and home tension. Your ability to use harmonious speech (as Libra rules your 3rd House of Communication) will spur your persuasion skills. Remember to draw those bees with honey!
Theme: Home harmony → shared standards
Try: Co-create “house rules” that honor both style and sanity.
Pose: Eagle (Garudāsana) — wrap arms/legs; find balance in the squeeze, then expand between shoulder blades.
Virgo
Your ability to earn is heightened now; with so much Libra energy igniting the cosmos, you can enhance your profile at work and status in the world overall. Just try not to be overly nitpicky; the Mercury-Mars conjunction in Scorpio could have you (subtly) cutting people down in ways they won’t appreciate – or forget.
Theme: Self-respect → mutual respect
Try: Name your non-negotiables once, calmly; let silence do the underlining.
Pose: Legs Up the Wall (Viparīta Karani) — 5–8 minutes to relearn ease; soften the tongue on the exhale.
Libra
It’s a beautiful intention setting time and all eyes are on you! Just don’t let all the attention go to your head (not that you ever would!)…and try not to make any promises that you don’t intend to keep. A continual tendency to leave people hanging could also backfire.
Theme: Fresh chapter → fair terms
Try: Rewrite the relational contract: appreciations, needs, next-steps.
Pose: Tree (Vṛkṣāsana) — press foot to shin or thigh; lift the heart as you steady your gaze on what’s possible. The art of balanced un-balance encourages you to reach just outside your comfort zone – that’s where greatness lies for you!
Scorpio
Early in the week, you may feel an urge to hide out as the Sun, Moon, and Venus in your 12th House could make you somewhat introspective. Your season is about to kick off, so use this time to gather observations on the past year. With Mercury and Mars in your sign, your next thoughts, words, and actions will feel clearer than ever. Once the Sun moves into Scorpio on the 22nd, you’ll be ready to move forward.
Theme: Say the thing → clear the air
Try: Lead with impact (“When X happens, I feel…”) then propose one actionable fix.
Pose: Half Lord of the Fishes (Ardha Matsyendrāsana) — twist from low belly; unstick truth kindly from the ribs.
Sagittarius
As gentle Libra season draws to an end, it brings you one last gust of relationship-loving energy. While you can vibe with a group or alone, use the early part of the week to check in with your people. Don’t just wait for others to spot your greatness; recognize that some part of recognition is learning how to “work the room”. As Mercury and Mars meet in Scorpio, remember to observe, but don’t always blurt it out. Recognize your own part in any drama. Be authentic, but kind.
Theme: Friends to lovers? → honest curiosity
Try: Name the vibe; agree to explore without future-tripping.
Pose: Dancer (Naṭarājāsana) — hold lightly; reach forward as you lift back, heart open to what could be. Your prodigious athleticism can be a cleansing balm to the spirit this week – tension is there to push you forward.
Capricorn
The New Moon in Libra could mean a career shift for you! Lean into your sensitive side (yes, you have one) to win advocates to your side. Libra energy is about networks and communities; make sure that you are aware of the influence that others can have in helping you to achieve your goals – of all kinds.
Theme: Visibility with vulnerability
Try: Let someone champion you; practice receiving praise without deflecting.
Pose: Warrior II (Vīrabhadrāsana II) — strong legs, soft face; hold the line while your heart stays bright. Be a warrior of kindness and love, not disapprobation.
Aquarius
You’ve been on a tour of rallying your people this Libra season, Aquarius, and this week’s New Moon is no different! As Neptune slips into imaginative Pisces on Wednesday, you may find that your innovative instincts are ignited in a critical area of your life.
Theme: Shared beliefs → shared path
Try: Align on values first, logistics second; make one learning date together.
Pose: Triangle (Trikoṇāsana) — lengthen both side bodies; broaden chest for truthful, generous dialogue.
Pisces
As Neptune, your ruler, slides back into your sign, Pisces, you are ready to lead with love again! Trusting your instincts has never been easier than now…and as the Sun ventures into the deep arena of the Scorpion on Wednesday October 22nd, you are ready to be your intuitive, dreamy self again. Most don’t realize it, but beneath your sensitive exterior lies a confidence and endurance that is as deep as the Big Blue Sea. You are ready for one of your best times of the year.
Theme: Re-enchant the heart
Try: Let tenderness return, with wiser boundaries. Dream—and gatekeep.
Pose: Reclined Bound Angle (Supta Baddha Koṇāsana) — hands to heart and belly; receive your own yes.
Micro-ritual for the New Moon in Libra (Oct 21, ET): Write three “fairer terms” you’re ready to live by in relationships (with others and yourself). Speak them aloud once. Fold the paper and place it under a small glass of water overnight; sip a few mindful sips in the morning to embody your vows.
